Task goals
- Interpret a net as a representation of a 3D shape and use it to calculate surface area by adding the areas of individual faces.
- Calculate surface area of cuboids and cubes using the formula and by decomposing into individual faces.
- Calculate surface area of triangular prisms and other prisms using nets or face-by-face decomposition.
- Understand and apply the surface area formula for cylinders ($2\pi r^2 + 2\pi rh$) and connect it to the cylinder net.
- Solve applied problems involving surface area of prisms and cylinders, including compound shapes made from multiple solids.
