Task goals
- Convert a measurement of area between metric units (mm squared, cm squared, m squared) using the linear conversion factor squared.
- Convert a measurement of volume between metric units (mm cubed, cm cubed, m cubed) using the linear conversion factor cubed.
- Explain, using a grid or cube diagram, why area conversions use the squared factor and volume conversions use the cubed factor rather than the plain linear factor.
- Convert in both directions between a smaller and a larger area or volume unit, including with decimal values.
- Calculate an area or volume from given dimensions and then convert the result into a different metric unit.
