Task goals

  • Calculate the area of a square or rectangle from its side lengths.
  • Calculate the area of a triangle or parallelogram from its given base and perpendicular height.
  • Calculate the area of a triangle whose height is given as a multiple of its base, by first finding the height.
  • Work backwards from a given area and base to find the missing perpendicular height of a parallelogram, in the same style as the canonical/Master Guide backward-solve sample question.
