Measurement applications: compound shapes

Solve substantial, realistic measurement problems that decompose a compound 2D shape (an L-shaped floor plan or deck, a rectangle with an excluded region, a shape combining a rectangle/square/parallelogram with a triangle/semicircle/quarter-circle) into simpler component shapes, find a total area or perimeter, then chain the result through a unit conversion, a quantity of material, a discrete purchase, and a cost, making and justifying a decision from the result.
