Task goals
- Draw a cube or cuboid of given dimensions accurately on isometric dot paper.
- Identify which net, from a set of options, folds up to form a given simple prism or pyramid.
- Match a simple prism or pyramid to its correct net by tracing which edges join and which faces meet.
- Sketch the plan (top), front, and side elevation views of a composite solid built from combined rectangular prisms.
- Construct a fully labelled net for a triangular prism or square-based pyramid from its given dimensions, marking which edges are equal length.
- Draw an isometric sketch of a composite solid built from combined prisms, keeping parallel edges parallel and true to scale.
- Construct a net for a compound or unfamiliar polyhedron, and check by reasoning that it folds without gaps or overlaps.
- Explain what a given plan, front, or side view reveals and does not reveal about a composite solid's shape, including describing a possible cross-section.
