Task goals
- Round a decimal to the nearest whole number.
- Round a decimal to 1 decimal place.
- Round a decimal to 2 decimal places.
- Identify the correct rounding digit and apply the round-up or round-down rule, including when a 9 carries over into the next place value.
- Check whether a given rounded answer is correct and explain any mistake.
- Compare and order numbers after they have been rounded to a stated number of decimal places.

Teaching guidance
- Students must know: When calculating, it is best to use at least one
- more significant figure than is required in the final solution, and round
- at the end of the whole calculation.
- WBHS Approach: Round to one additional place value than the
- information in the question. For example, if you're doing Pythagoras'
- Theory with 6cm and 7.5m, the answer should be 2dp!
