The teacher behind the resources
Mana Maths was created by Will McIntosh, a mathematics teacher at Westlake Boys High School in Auckland. Will holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Portland State University, where he focused on machine learning and functional analysis, and a secondary teaching qualification from Massey University.
After recently moving into teaching, Will discovered a real passion for helping students become confident problem-solvers — not just students who can follow a worked example, but students who can stick with an unfamiliar problem and find their way through it.
“Tenacity wins every time.”
The belief behind Mana Maths is simple: difficult problems can be solved through careful troubleshooting and tenacity — in the classroom, and in building the resources themselves.
How the resources are made
Mana Maths combines classroom experience with AI-assisted development to create practical mathematics resources for teachers and students. The computer science background shapes the tooling; the classroom shapes the content.
AI helps build the resources, but it does not get the final word. Each problem is checked for accuracy and suitability, with Python-based mathematical tools used to verify calculations and solutions before anything reaches the site. If a question wouldn’t work in Will’s own classroom, it doesn’t ship.
